SUPER HAPPY BABY!!

My newest little friend!!  I just love new little friends!!   Tucker is the new Cover Baby for the much anticipated first edition of BAMBINO MAGAZINE which is a Valley Version of Urban Baby!!  I am so excited to be the exclusive photographer for Bambino for their covers and editorials. The editor, Rebecca Miller is an advocate for all that is good in the world of babies, kids & motherhood!!  An amazing writer and a phenomenal mom, she's going to take the Valley by storm providing us with the latest and greatest in advice & education as well as the hottest products & services such as having your kids photographed by Kim Mallory Photography  (heehee).

MEET MY FIANCE WINNERS

I had the pleasure of attending the "Meet My Fiance" Reception last night. This contest between 6 couples to win a Wedding Package valued at $6500.00 was put on by the Harrison Aggasiz Observer and was distributed throughout the Valley! I was the big kahuna sponsor giving away a $2500.00 Wedding Package. I'm so excited to be working with a lovely young couple - Leola & Adam who took the grand prize and will be getting Married in August 2009! The photos of the winning couple will run in the Chilliwack Progress this week, so watch out for them!!

FAMILY FIRST

Here are some recent photos of a very sweet family that I just LOVE!  My girls helped me throughout this session, which they will often do when I have a toddler & a baby together!  Nothing works better when a toddler says "no" than bringing down either a kid, a cat or a dog.  Excellent distractions.  Cause the whole trick is to make it fun right?   If they don't want their picture taken, it's not fun!!  I didn't realize until today what an amazing assistant Nicole is turning into!    Now, with these sessions especially, you're not going to get the family photo with everyone smiling nicely into the camera - not with me anyway!!  Hey!  This is all about being real!  Oh, I've got some photos with everyone looking at the camera, but this family photo is the fun one!

A BEAUTIFUL BABY..

Aren't they all though??  This is a session that I did a week ago.  A five month old baby & her big sister whom we shot when she was just fresh out of the oven a few years ago!!!!  My time flies when these little ones come back all grown up!! sniff, sniff....   anyway... the focus was on baby, but we did spend some time getting the two of them together as well for a very well rounded session!  And it was lotsa fun as you can see!!

SUCCESS!!

Well, after much anticipation, I am so happy to announce that my Workshop, Babies & Brats, with Foto Image Works, is completed! I gave my presentation last night that included a couple of tear jerker slideshows and a power point presentation. I was extremely nervous the first few minutes, but once I got past the jitters, I felt pretty relaxed.  Lots of positive comments after and I've been invited back next year with an extra hour added to my presentation! 

A SWEET LITTLE ANGEL BABY

I just finished a newborn session!  I must say, I'm getting quick with posting images on the blog...  I just couldn't wait to play with this one!   This would look amazing blown up HUGE and printed on a canvas....  that's just my vision of course.  A 5x7 would look nice too!  heehee.

BLUSH TANNING SALON & GALLERY

I had a chance to sneak down to BLUSH Salon & Spa today to have a look at the new Tanning Studio which is also home to the Beautiful Woman Gallery, a body of work from the Beautiful Woman Project that we just did.   Gorgeous Black and White Vintage Style Photographs of the BLUSH Girls blown up poster size.   VERY COOL!!  There will be a Cocktail Party on Saturday, May 24, 2008, between 6pm&9pm to celebrate the opening of the Tanning Salon & to show off the Beautiful Woman Gallery.  Everyone is welcome! 

Beautiful Woman Sessions will be done on the first and third Monday of every month here at the studio.  They include make-up by Blush.  Album packages range from $350 - $550.00 and include the digital negatives and a private online gallery.  Our albums ROCK too.  Bring your friends and make a day of it...  it's fun and empowering!!

A GORGEOUS DAY!

I had to work most of the day but my hubby dragged me out at about 3:30pm and we went down to Cultas Lake with the kids. Clarke is learning photography so he brought one of my old SLR's... he took the first few photos and then I had to "take over" to show him how to do it... of course, I can't put the thing down... sheeesh! Here's one of Nicole and Sadie, a happy pair.

MY BIG DEBUT!

I am desperately trying to prepare for my speaking engagement at UBC next weekend! I'm so excited but I need to put together a slideshow or two for my presentation.... I'm so picky though, it's painful! But, I found some really cool music that I love today, and I think it will be a tear jerker.. It made me cry, but what doesn't? A POST A DAY!

Jess tells me I need to post everyday, because she checks the blog every day!!  Okay, I'm REALLY going to try!  I like to post photos, but if I'm in a rush, I'll just have to to tell stories!.  I did post a new album today though, so have a look for Carter's album... It's a compilation of images from 2 Sessions and when it's finished in about a year, we will have shot another 3 Sessions and essentially have documented the first year of his life - which is when a baby changes the most.   The fun one will be his first birthday where we will let him have his own cupcake at the studio.   He's so CUTE, I just wanted to maul him when Melissa brought him in last week for a visit.....  really, she shouldn't let her hubby out alone with that baby, he's a major chick magnet  (the baby that is).

I've known Heather since she was in Grade Five and my girls LOVE her.   Comments from the Mallory girls: "Is that Heather Maz?.... she's sooo pretty". "Which one is Heather?"   "We like Heather, she's nice"   "Heather was our favorite". 

YESTERDAY'S VERY FUN FAMILY SESSION

Complete with hail and rain!  Of course, how could we not be shooting in hail and rain?  God knows it was sunny before we left, but we live in B.C., so of course we should expect hail & rain at some point in the day! 

This Session was so FUN!  What a great family!  The boys home to visit their parents, oh & hey, you're getting your picture done. I think they needed a bit of convincing, but didn't we have fun guys??  I really enjoyed myself. We had a few laughs that's for sure!!  Here are a few sneak peaks some of my favorites - one for you too Wendy....  heehee.   They look so cute!            

HAS IT REALLY BEEN A WEEK??

Whew, I had a crazy busy week last week with meetings, bridal consults, portrait consults, ordering sessions... It's like grand central station around here lately. Just so much energy with people coming in and out all day long I just love it. It can get kinda lonely working by yourself and I think I'm too social to be alone for more than an hour at a time so it's great to have so much going on; it keeps me grounded too.. I don't get bored and start looking at real estate.... This week I'll be working on albums and orders, updating my blog and website and preparing for my speaking engagement that I'm doing down at UBC on April 19th. Eeeek, that looks like more than five days of work - it's gonna be busy! I did a VERY fun session today with a local family, with grown boys in their 20's. They were soooo sweet and fun! I can't wait to get working on the photos, I know I got some killer shots! I'll be posting some of those on the blog tomorrow for a sneak peak!!

BACK AT IT!

Happy Easter Everybody!!  I love Easter, because it means that spring is coming!!  I think it's officially here now isn't it??  YAY!   I did an outdoor session yesterday and it was hailing, raining - we might have seen the sun for a minute or two but despite the crazy B.C. weather, we did get some great shots!

And WHO can resist catching hail on their tongue???

I love this shot!  It just totally tells a story!  Lots of fun & good energy here!

SKI DISASTER

Okay, yes the kids did their black diamond run with their father, even though I told them not to do it without me.... because I'm a paranoid mother and I have to be there in case someone needs to be saved... but kids and husbands don't always listen. Unfortunately I wasn't able to join them. After my glorious day of skiing, we went back to the condo and enjoyed a nice dinner with friends...no problems... The next morning, as I was making breakfast... gee, my back went out..... This was no ordinary back issue..... I literally could not walk. I really got to know the floor of the condo quite well as I crawled around on all fours to get between the bed, the hottub and the bathroom for two days. It was pathetic! I bawled like a baby all the way home today... it was a painful drive but as soon as we got into Chilliwack I hit the Chiropractor, and I'm happy to report, I can walk now, although at a 90 degree angle... Tomorrow I will visit my miracle worker, Lora, who does accupressure massage & accupuncture... I am very sad because I've realized that I'm out of shape and I need to start exercising if I want to ski - and I really, really hate exercising... I get a lot more enjoyment vegging out on the couch and eating bonbons... but I NEVER want to go through this again so I am going to start working it into my schedule.... REALLY!

MORE of the BEAUTIFUL WOMAN project

We had a BW marathon on Monday & Tuesday (okay, I hope B.W. doesn't stand for anything rude....I'm not coming up with anything off the top of my head.. and if I can't come up with anything, no one can -heehee).  Anyway....  all I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!!  I can't believe how well everything turned out...  This has been in the planning for weeks with props and lighting & some new photoshop techniques, meetings with everyone involved and a lot of team work - and it all just came together so seamlessly... everyone is absolutely thrilled with the results.  Thank-you to Nikon for inventing the D3 (I love my new camera), Thank you to the owners of BLUSH, Season & Jason for being open to working with me and for sharing my vision, Thank-you to Christine & the other girls at BLUSH for their amazing make-up techniques & to eight amazing girls that work for BLUSH & who volunteered to be photographed for this project, you are all so great!!   Beautiful inside and out and I'm so happy to know you!! 

Since preparing for this project I've managed to score another 400 square feet of studio space by taking over my guest room and officially christening it the Beautiful Woman Studio and it is SO cool! I'm sure it will get lots of use!  Keep checking back!  I'll be adding to this post when I hear from the girls & get their okay to be featured here.   This is Christine, the amazing make-up artist!!  You NEED to hire her for your Wedding, Grad or your Beautiful Woman Session!

A RECENT MATERNITY SESSION

A few shots from my last maternity session!!  A very fun couple that are completely and totally excited to be welcoming their first baby into the world!!   Great energy together as you can tell from these shots!  That's going to be one very cute baby!!  That fourth shot is going into my "Images that speak to me folder"  It just really stirs up emotion & gives me a warm fuzzy....
